Asian Games 2022: Schedule, Venue & Where To Watch

The Asian Games, one of the largest and heavily funded multi-sports events, is set to happen in 2022. Asian games 2022 venue has been pinned as Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China, and it is set to happen from September 10 to September 25, 2022. Swimming, badminton, athletics, fencing, equestrian, football, judo, hockey, archery, kabaddi, and other Olympic sports are some of the 40 sports and 61 categories featured in the multi-sport tournament. After acceptance of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), e-sports and breakdancing will premiere as full medal events at the 2022 Asian Games, while cricket will return in T20 mode to increase audience enthusiasm.

Asian Games Village

In 2022, Hangzhou will host the Asian Games. In addition to the successful organization of the G20 conference in Hangzhou, the games will be another major international event. Through this huge Asian event, Hangzhou hopes to improve its city image and establish itself as an international metropolis.

According to the Chinese Olympic Committee, Hangzhou made a bid and was the only city to declare candidacy in August 2015. On September 16, 2015, during the 34th OCA General Assembly in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, Hangzhou was named the host city.

According to the proposal, Ningbo, Shaoxing, and Huzhou will also be included in the competition venues. The Olympics also accelerated the development of multiple railways, cutting travel time in half.

Promotion of Asian Games

The HAGOC (Hangzhou 2022 Organizing Committee) has partnered with the Hangzhou Culture Radio Television Group to develop a television station for official information about the Games. The Games' Official Airline Partner, Loong Air, painted six of its planes in the Asian Games livery for a similar reason.

On September 10, 2021, the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center hosted a one-year countdown ceremony named "Expecting." The torch design and the official outfits of the Olympic Council of Asia representatives and the referees, judges, technical delegates, and jury members were unveiled during the event.

Asian Games Emblem

On August 6, 2018, the official Asian Games logo, named "Surging Tides," was unveiled at a special ceremony at the headquarters of the Hangzhou Culture Radio Television Group to prepare the city to succeed Jakarta & Palembang 2018 as the host city.

Mascots Congcong, Lianlian, and Chenchen, collectively known as the "Memories of Jiangnan" smart triplets, were presented online on April 3, 2020, as the Games' official mascots; masculine robotic superheroes whose origins are the Liangzhu City’s Archeological Ruins.

What is The Motto of The Asian Games?

On December 15, 2019, the official motto of the 2022 Asian Games, "Heart to Heart, @Future," was introduced at the Olympic and International Expo Park's Tennis Centre.

Cricket Is Back In Asian Games

Cricket will be a feature of the 2022 Asian Games, held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China, between September 10 and September 25, 2022. After an eight-year absence, the sport will return to the Asian Games program as one of 40 sports to be competed in.

The Asian Games of 2014 were the last time we witnessed a game of cricket.

Earlier Triumphs For India

India being a member of the Olympic Council of Asia's (OCA) South Asian Zone, is one of the only seven nations participating in every edition of the Asian Games. Except for 1990, India has always been in the top ten nations in winning medals and has won at least a single gold medal in all the Asian games previously.

India has won 139 gold medals, 299 bronze medals, and 178 silver medals at the Asian Games. Over 300 athletes from various countries will be a part of the competition for the first time in the 19th Asian Games.

All the participants (Oceana), including New Zealand and Australia, will be eligible to compete in five sports: triathlon, athletics, wushu, roller skating, and weightlifting.

In Asian Games 2022, E-sports and PUBG are a New Feat!

The 19th Asian Games will be historic because PUBG Mobile and eight other Esports will be added as a significant event. Players from several Asian countries will compete for medals in various Esports competitions.

The game has been included in the forthcoming Asian Games in Hangzhou due to the growing popularity of the Esports situation in PUBG Mobile.

How Will the Indian Team be Selected?

It is important to note that the game is illegal in India, and players must instead play BGMI, the country's version of the game. The Asian Games version of the game, on the other hand, would be unusual in that it will feature an Indian contingent.

As a result, it's important to understand how the Indian team will be chosen for the competition.

The 2022 competition will be divided into three stages, according to the AESF:

  • Selections for the National Team (Including National Qualifiers)
  • Road to Asian Games (RDAG) Regional
  • Esports Finals at the 19th Asian Games

The initial process for selecting the National Team began in November 2021 and finished on January 14, 2022. As a result, national competitions and player selections for the main team to represent the country at the Asian Games are the only remaining activities.

The RDAG's 'National Team Selection' will take place between February and April. Following that, between April and July, the national teams' seedings will be determined for the finals, which will be conducted in Hangzhou, China, in September 2022.

In India, a similar approach was followed, and it appears that the players' performances in the just concluded BGIS 2021 impacted the National Tournament Selections. It will be interesting to see who makes it into PUBG Mobile's official lineup to represent India in the Asian Games.
